Today was just going to be about the drive to the Grand Canyon but turned out to be a bit more interesting than that! We saw one town in about 300 miles and we crossed back into the pacific standard time zone (we've been on mountain time while in Utah-very confusing!). There were plenty of wee visitor attractions and cool views on the way though. We stopped at the Moqui Caves where we saw fossilised dinosaur tracks and turtle poo-weird. We also saw some more petrified trees which I've become a little obsessed with recently. We also had a short stop at Jacob Lake Inn for lunch and after that stopped a few times to take in views of the Vermillion mountains and the Little Colorado river (turns out it's not so little!) through the Navajo Nation. We eventually got to the Grand Canyon and stopped for our first view at the Desert view point. Its pretty amazing! Its really difficult to describe the scale and I'm sure the photos won't do it justice. Could have done with Kate's super duper wide angle lens for the pics!! More views of the Canyon to come tomorrow and we're off to enquire about getting a flight over it too. Very exciting stuff!!
