Today we went into Williams which was holding the 15th Annual Cool Country Cruise In and Battle of the Bands along with the crowning of the new Miss Williams in the local pageant. Not to be missed! So many cool cars from the 50s and 60s and lots of rock bands doing their thing throughout the town. Back to the campsite for a chilled evening by the lake as a long drive awaits us tomorrow!

Well, the cowboy dude (aka Sid Hausman) was actually really good, he sang lots of songs about the Grand Canyon and the wild west. Certainly was something a bit different! We also did the mile and a half rest point on the Bright Angel trail which I thought would be horrible as it's simply a mile and a half straight down and the same right back up again, but it turns out I'm a hell of a lot fitter than I thought and we did it in a couple of hours. Well, we flew across the grand canyon in a helicopter today! It was absolutely astounding! There really aren't words to describe the sheer size of it. We thought we'd seen a lot yesterday but turned out that was only a wee bit of it! Plus riding in a helicopter is really cool and I love it! After that we made up some pack lunches and headed for the Rim trail again and did around 4 miles from the Bright Angel trail head (which we intend to try a bit of tomorrow) t...

We are staying at the Mather campground in the GC national park. It's a nice site and is so close to the canyon. It also has a cafe with free wifi-whoop! Anyway, we took a walk along the South Rim trail today. Not very far but we keep stopping to take in the views which makes for quite a slow trek! We intend to perhaps try one one the trails that goes into the canyon itself on Thursday. It's pretty hot, even on the canyon rim and it gets much hotter as you descen...

Today was just going to be about the drive to the Grand Canyon but turned out to be a bit more interesting than that! We saw one town in about 300 miles and we crossed back into the pacific standard time zone (we've been on mountain time while in Utah-very confusing!).
