London 2008
I've spent this past week celebrating my roommate's birthday and catching up on school work. My roommate, Laura, turned 21 on Thursday and we celebrated with tea at the Ritz! We got all dressed up and everything was so delicious! We had champagne, tea, sandwiches, scones, and pastries. As you can imagine, the Ritz was beautiful so we enjoyed our time there.
On Friday I visited Westminster Abbey, which was fun. There are so many people buried there that it's a little creepy, but I really liked seeing the coronation chair and royal tombs. I spent Saturday catching up on school work in the flat, which was a good choice since it was raining throughout the day. I visited the Imperial War Museum and the Museum at Docklands this week for class assignments. Sunday, while walking to the Museum at Docklands, we stumbled upon the London Marathon, which was fun to watch for a few minutes.
Last night my theatre class saw a play entitled "Testing the Echo" which was about becoming a British citizen. It was a very powerful play that addressed issues of diversity and discrimination; I really enjoyed watching it. Today the weather was gorgeous and it finally got up to about 60 degrees! This after noon I walked around Regent's Part for about an hour and took some beautiful pictures.
Tomorrow evening we have an Elon group dinner for all the students and faculty. This weekend, my roommates and I are hoping to take a day trip to Brighton, which is on the southern coast of England. I can't believe that I will be heading home in just one month! The rest of my time here will be busy with projects, papers, and final travels. My last weekend trip will be to Seville, Spain at the end of April. I'm excited for that trip because I know the weather will be much warmer there, which will be a nice break from foggy London!
