Yesterday we visited Stonehenge and Bath. It was about a 2 hour drive to Stonehenge, then a 1 hour drive to Bath. We had another "brilliant" day to spend outside, as you can see from my pictures. Stonehenge was amazing! I can't even fathom how people moved those huge stones! The only downfall is that tourists are no longer allowed to get close to the stones, so we could only observe from a distance.
After spending about an hour at Stonehenge, we left for Bath. From the moment we approached Bath from a distance, I could tell it was beautiful. Most of the buildings have similar architecture and it is such a cute town. After eating our bag lunches, we toured the Roman Baths. The Roman Baths were pretty cool, especially since it's still the same water that was there when the Romans lived in Bath. Next, our guide took us on a walking tour of the city. We walked all the way up the hill to the Royal Crescent. From there the view was beautiful! We walked over the Avon River for another great view. We also visited Bath Abbey, which might have been my favorite part. The stained glass depicts 56 scenes from Jesus' life and the architecture is beautiful. After eating some ice cream (yum!) we left Bath at around 4:30 pm. As we departed, we could look back and see the sunset over Bath....so pretty!!
When we got back to London it was about 7:00. Laura, Whitney, and I went to Covent Garden to eat dinner at a little outdoor cafe. We sat outside, ate, and listened to live music. It was so fun! I also got my first glimpse of Trafalgar Square, which is sort of like Times Square in NYC. It has the huge screens and everything!
Today Whitney, Jessi, and I are going out to find our internship locations. Our flat is planning on going to the Chinese New Year celebrating this afternoon or evening, which is very big here in London. Tomorrow morning I begin my internship, so you will be hearing about that soon!
