Today I began my internship at an accounting firm called Jones and Partners. I didn't really know what to expect since I've never been in the British working enviornment before, but I really liked the company. The secretary, Jackie, introduced me to everyone and showed me around the office. The office isn't very large and only about 12 people work there. It's actually about the size of the office I worked in this summer at CB&H. It's an interesting mixture of people- lots of ages, ethnicities, and dress. Some people had suits on, but two people had jeans on. I already got to work on some audit papers today, so I think that's a good sign that I will actually be doing accounting work during my internship. My supervisor David even encouraged me to speak up if there was some specific I wanted to work on or learn about while I'm there. I have my own desk, which is in a room with 6 other desks (no cubicles). It's very open, so everyone talks and jokes a lot too. Based on what I observed today, I really think it will be a great internship. Tomorrow classes begin....back to the real world!!
