Wednesday 3rd September -
I left my bag with Koala Backpackers (the group who booked the Whitsunday tour for me) and had to pay $6 for the three days that the rucksack and small hand held bag would be in storage for.
I walked over to 'Moroccos' bar where we were meeting everyone who was going on the tour with us, as well as the deckhand 'Jangles', who was to look after us for the entire trip.
She took a role (felt like we were at school again) and were then told that we could help ourself to the BBQ that they had prepared for us - at the bar.
We were told that we couldnt take glass bottles on the trip - everything had to be in plastic bottles or cans (Mum - they have a JD and coke in a CAN over here)!! So I walked up town to the off licence (as we call it back in the UK, but over here, they call it the bottle shop)... this is where is got confusing... for me!... I walked into the 'bottle shop' and asked them where this 'bottle shop' was - I stupidly thought it was a shop that sold empty bottles and nothing else! Stupid or what!? The poor lady behind the counter thought I must have been on drugs and just laughed in my face. I was really confused and didnt do a very good job of covering that up!
At 14:30, we made our way (about a mile away up hill!) to the Abel Point Marina where we were going to board the Pride of Airlie catamaran. Or so we thought... We actually ended up boarding another boat, because the Pride of Airlie had been in a boat accident last week - basically the skipper of the boat was pissed and lost control of the damn boat! At this point, noone on the boat knew if we were in for a rocky trip.
So we were being briefed on the deck and Jangles told us that the skipper had to go home quickly to feed the dogs! Ben the skipper soon arrived and greeted us all with a "How the f**k are ya all?" It was funny because we realised that he was absolutely crazy!
We took a slow cruise to South Molle Island, where we would be sleeping for two nights. The island was beautiful - you will see in the pictures. We were staying in a four star resort, with a spa and swimming pool. We arrived at 17:00. The group (33 of us) had an allocated area away from the rest of the resort (due to the noise that past groups have made) - and we were told that we had to be the loudest yet - this was not hard!
The bar in the resort (private for us) opened at 17:30 and had a happy hour that lasted all night! A jug of Malibu and Pineapple was $14, so you can imagine the state that everyone was in as the night progressed! There was dancing on the tables, poledancing, drinking games and a competition of who could drink the most without passing out - I would like to say at this point, I was in the top five! Needless to say, I dont remember to getting into bed that night!
