Im not exactly in the Whitsundays yet, but I wanted to leave a message on here, from the Whitsundays, so that it is printed in my travel blog book!
I met my new dorm mates last night, I was sharing a dorm with two girls from America - Darcy and Katie, and a german guy. They were all really nice, although I only had chance to speak to them briefly before getting into bed.
I walked down to the beach as it was getting dark and took a long walk around the bay (about an hour and a half) before stopping off for something to eat. I was sitting outside a bistro / restaurant / bar, waiting for my food to be bought out to me and a really nice Australian couple came and sat with me (they must have felt sorry for me because I was on my own!) They introduced themselves - Simon and Ria, and explained that they came here on a holiday eight years ago and have never actually gone home!
They invited me out for a few drinks, so I took them up on their offer, only to realise that they worked behind the bar at the Beaches Hostel that I stayed at on my first night in Airlie Beach! So of course, I was having free drinks the entire evening! I was very lucky - you see; sometimes sitting on your own and looking like a complete loner with no friends, does pay off, literally!
So, its now Wednesday 3rd September, and I am boarding the 'Pride of Airlie' sailing boat this afternoon at 3pm. I have a pre sailing talk at 13:30 first, which should last about an hour.
Ive had a really sore right wrist since falling off the bus three days ago, so I am going to see how it is when I get off of the sailing tour, and if its still hurting me like it is now, I might go and get it checked out at the hospital / doctors when I get back on Friday. Drama queen I know, but I really do have concerns that I may not be able to swim over the next few days...!
I hope everyone back home is okay? I am missing you all - and thank you for your messages! Keep them coming!
