Im in Brisbane!
I arrived on my greyhound bus at 15:25 this afternoon and was picked up by a minibus straight away, to be taken to Base Embassy Hostel, where I am staying for two nights. It is slightly more expensive here, Im paying $28 a night, where further up the coast where I have been staying, the rate per night is $20 - $23.
I was pretty tired from the Fraser Island tour and the bus journey (seven hours, which I slept six hours of it!) so I decided to take a walk around the city and figure out what to do over the next few days.
I ended up going to see a film, on my own!
Ive been feeling a bit sorry for myself over the past few days, what with the camping, lack of sleep, lack of toilet and shower facilities (!) and the lack of friends that Ive been making because Ive been moving around so much, so I ended up calling Dad for a bit of a shoulder to cry on - thanks Dad!
Im planning on going to Australia Zoo on Saturday and Movieworld theme park on Sunday or Monday.
Im not really sure how long I will be in Brisbane for, it depends on how the next few days go. I have just spoken to Doug (one of the guys I met in Sydney) and he is still in Sydney and wants to know if I would be interested in moving in with him if I can find work in Sydney, so I have that as an option if I decide to get down there in the next couple of weeks. I still have to stop off at Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay (which I am looking forward to going to because Ive heard some good things about it).
I think after leaving Sydney and working my way down the east coast through the towns (they are so small), I have decided that the town environment isnt for me and that the cities are, so Brisbane is just what Ive been waiting for. There are tall buildings throughout the city and the people are friendly (more friendly than Sydney!) I will be exploring more tomorrow...
