We arrived yesterday to the "Garden Island" of Kauai. Today we took the North Shore drive and the weather was good. We stopped at waterfalls on the way up the coast and enjoyed the Light House at the most northern shore of the Hawaiian islands. We saw whales at a distance and hope to continue to see them throughout our stay as they are here throughout April. We moved along the coast to the end of the road and the beaches are beautiful with big surfs at all of them. There were also wet and dry caves to check out.....carved out by ocean waves over time. At the end of the road there is an 11 mile hike along the NaPali coast which we did not do!! Looked very rocky and when one hiker came down with his pick ax it was definitely a "no go".
The island is quite small so it only takes about an hour to get from the East Coast to the end of the road on the North Shore. We look forward to exploring the island!
