We left Arenal Volcano this morning and drove to the Las Pas Waterfalls and are staying at the "Peace Lodge". This place is amazing!! We're in the mountains so the weather is quite cool and we had rain again today. We are in the rain forest so we're not too surprised. The resort rooms each have fireplaces and a jacuzzi on the deck.
For lunch we were actually able to catch our trout and have the chef prepare it. It was lots of fun!
If the clouds clear we have a view of Poas Volcano from our room.
At the resort they have a butterfly observatory, an aviary with Tucans and Macaws, hummingbirds, monkeys, snakes, frogs, and jungle cats.
We have had cool weather in the mountains. We are in coffee country here and we drove through lots of fruit fields today. The Costa Rica coffee is really good!! The fruit has been delicious with bananas, pineapple, papaya, watermelons and I have learned to order a fruit smoothie whenever possible.
The Costa Rica people (Ticos) are so very nice. Trying always to make us feel welcome.
