Our first port is Montevideo, Uruguay. We found a tour of this capital city interesting. This city claims that the tango originated here but we think the Argentines would disagree. The tour took us to Independence square with it's impressive mausoleum and monument honoring their national hero General Jose Gervasio Artigas.
We took a drive along the beaches of Rio de la Plata with a panaramic view of the city.
The ocean water here is very brown. The locals claim it's not contaminated but caused by the bottom soil of the ocean. We look forward to seeing the beautiful aqua blue water as we cruise further south.
