This morning we left the Cloud Forest with an elevation of 4700 ft and drove around Lake Arenal arriving in La Fortuna at Arenal Volcano with an elevation of 1400 feet. The change of Ecosystems is rapid and there are 11 in this small country.
The roads have not been bad if you don't take a wrong turn. Probably the most difficult issue with driving is the lack of road signs. Craig has needed to help us translate a request for directions a few times. We have not had problems with our 2 wheel drive thus far on our trip.
It rained today as we traveled so Arenal Volcano is socked in and not viewable today. Our hotel has 13 natural mineral springs on their property so we took advantage of that benefit on arrival. There are many natural hot springs in this area so will check out more tomorrow.
