Tri-Hospice Sponsored Ride
The Ragstones ensured that the annual sponsored ride for the Pilgrim's Hospice was well supported. John and Juliet cycled a 17 miles route to Shadoxhurst, while Ruth, Robert and Peter aided by three young men who joined them, cycled between the Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet hospices.
There were some great adventures along the way. Peter took a wrong turn to Pegwell Bay. It's marked no cyclists a temporary Ragstone cried. We never go back, Ruth replied! Fortunately no one minded carrying bikes up steps, avoiding dogs on and off leads and cycling with vegetation brushing both sides!
Volunteer staff were fantastic and helped make it a good day. Robert sacrificed the full ride and peeled off after 50 miles so he was in the right place to pick up Ruth later on. Ruth and Peter did a full 120km. and John of Millstone kindly plied them with cake, tea and coffee on their return to the carpark outside his home.
Thanks to all the volunteers of the Pilgrim's Hospice for an excellent day. The Ragstones have all donated to the Pilgrim's Hospice and hope that readers of this blog will do the same. And please come and join in next year.
