Arrived in to Amritsar on a train that was 11 hours late, there was a fat monkey sat in the station to great us, Tom decided to try and shake its hand, the monkey decided it wasn't in a very hospitable mood and tried to take his eyes out. I don't think Tom is going to try and shake hands with a monkey ever again. Lesson learnt. Took a cycle rickshaw in to town (meaning we had to get off and walk if there was a slight slope). OK, so we've decided that cities really aren't our thing, too busy and too expensive. The plan was to spend the night in Delhi and then catch another train to Amritsar the next morning. Took the 6 hour bus to Pushkar, it went well and was a pretty funny experience, don't think theres an official capacity on the bus, just the conducter who screamed at you for money. Weirdly he seemed friendly when we eventually arrived, gave me a hug and explained something in hindi, god knows what. Tom to forgot to mention in the last blog that to get to the internet cafe we had to cross a massive road at rush hour, meaning relentless traffic. We braved half of it dodging all variations of motors, but the second half seemed impossible until Tom made a sudden break for it and skipped between the vehicles to the other side leavin a terrified me stranded in the middle of the road! I think he thought i'd follow but the possibility of death by rickshaw over took...

The train was awesome, left at about 10am and arrived at about 7am. The fold out bed was just about long enough for me, both of us slept pretty well apart from a couple blokes who decided to eat curry and turn the lights on at midnight. We left our bags at the station and took one of the many rickshaws into town. We checked in to a grubby hotel and paid 250 rupees ( 2.75 ish) so we had a base for the long day ahead and could have a shower and escape from the heat...
