Sorry our photos and blogs are a bit out of sync, is quite hard to keepup with you know! We are gonna bust out few now...
So Chandigarg, the main purpose of this visit was to go to the famous 'Rock Gardens', India's second most popular tourist attraction after the Taj Mahal. So we booked ourselves in to a room for one night then caught a rickshaw over. Chandigarh is a very different city to all the other ones we have been too. It's clean, not very busy and the whole city is set out like a grid. So very unlike all the other chaotic cities we've been to. It was a welcome break but i wouldn't say it was a good example of 'India'. Anyway on to the Rock Gardens.
The Rock Garden is a strange and wonderful place, filled with tunnels, waterfalls, bridges, tiny doorways and funny colourful characters. The place is mainly made out of rock as the title suggests... but the little characters are also made out of old bits of tile, plug sockets and broken bits of bracelets. Most of it was done in secret by the parks care taker and about 20 years ago they found it and now let him have 50 volunteers at a time to help with his work, mainly repairing the old mosaics. Was different to how i expected, i thought there would be more things actually made out of 'rubbish' but it was well worth the visit!
We then tried to find a magic show that promised to have bunnies, dogs and midgits... but much to our dissapointment we couldn't find it. I mean what better way to spend an afternoon than watching magic midgits! We had a late lunch in a very trendy cafe, then returned to our hotel where Tom proceeded to get the key for our room out of his bag, then go to open the door with out it...
