So another lovely ten hour bus ride and we ended up in Shimla, the fantastic countryside and a bloke who looked like a toad kept us amused though. Shimla is a busy mountain resort set along a ridge at 1700m. Got on the 11 hour public night bus to Manali, was a v bumpy ride and didn't get any sleep, much to Tom's annoyance! We arrived in Manali at freezing o'clock in the morning, we looked quite silly in our t-shirts and flip flops, feelin v tired we found the first room we could then fell in to bed. We took a tatty old bus for 7 hours and eventually arrived in McLeod Ganj. A small village in the mountains just up from the Dalai Lama's residence. Our timing coincided with the protests over China's rule of Tibet. There are a number of tibeten refugess who live here after feeling tibet and they are out in force, everyday chanting from dusk till dawn.
