After getting to the biggest city in Vietnam at brake -neck speed thanks toa suicidal minibus driver we immiediatly made plans to leave again. We thought we'd squeeze in one more destination and visit the Mekong Delta, an area (as well as being famous for being bombed) which is really fertile and grows more rice and coconuts that Vietnam can consume. Once off the tourist trail in Vietnam things become harder work, we walked across the city to one bus station only...

We decided we wanted to go off the beaten trail a wee bit so we thought we would head Cat Tien National Park. This ment being dropped off in the middle of no-where persuading two guys on motos to take us to the park gates then catching a boat to some where with accommodation. We counted what money we had left after our epic journey and asked the park rangers what we could do with our pennies... turns out we could trek to 'Crocodile Lake' and sleep in the rangers ...

Our bad luck with buses in Vietnam continued when the driver forgot to fill up the water for a hilly journey to the highland town of Dalat. We overheated, smoke filled the cabin and we all had to get out for the next couple hours while the driver tinkered away. Arrived in to Nha Trang after a long, hot and eventful bus ride. Pretty tired particularly after sitting on the road side at 3 in the morning whilst one of the wheels was changed. Through luck rather than judgment we arrived in Hoi An on full moon. This means the old town is shut off to vehicles (including pesky motorbike drivers offering you a lift). It was lit upby lanterns and really nice and quite, a world away from Hanoi. The food went down well as normal and the local beer isn't so bad either.
