Tom to forgot to mention in the last blog that to get to the internet cafe we had to cross a massive road at rush hour, meaning relentless traffic. We braved half of it dodging all variations of motors, but the second half seemed impossible until Tom made a sudden break for it and skipped between the vehicles to the other side leavin a terrified me stranded in the middle of the road! I think he thought i'd follow but the possibility of death by rickshaw over took my desire to cross the road in that instance. After about 5 minutes i saw two Indian men darting across the road, they came up to me grabbed my hands and dragged me across the road, i laughed and screamed the whole time... Tom had sent the two lovely men to come get me, my hero!
After a good nights sleep on the night train we arrived in to Udaipur. We jumped in to a rickshaw and the driver took us to his brothers guest house. At first we were dubious but turned out the guest house was lovely and so was his brother! We had breakfast on the roof terrace over looking the lake and the palace. Was so nice to be out of a busy city. We went for a stroll in to town in the afternoon ended up takin a boat around the lake and on to one of the islands. Riff Raff like us aren't allowed on to the island that's home to the 'Lake Palace Hotel' (part of the Bond film Octop**** was filmed there), but we could look at it from our little boat and dream! Udaipur is beautiful, the lake is surrouned by milky coloured buildings and the buildings are surrounded by rolling hills. Very happy.
The next day we got up for breakfast on our roof terrace, the family that run the guest house are so eager to please it seems when ever we order something and they don't have it they make the young boy run out to the shops to buy the ingredients instead of telling us they don't have it (which seems to be every time we order something!). That afternoon we took a rickshaw to the moonsoon palace, situated on a hill that over looks Udaipur. We asked the rickshaw driver to drop us off half away up so we could have a stroll. The views from the top were amazing, both enjoyed seeing the surrounding country side.
The next day i sent Tom ahead to order breakfast i went to follow 5 mins later but couldn't open the door of our room. I thought ah well Tom will come look for me in a minute... but no... he didn't come to see where i was for a whole HOUR! He had locked me in from the outside.. when he came back to get me he still hadn't realised what he had done.. funny boy.
We went for a walk around the town after Tom let me out, but after about an hour i had a bit of a dizzy spell so Tom put me in a rickshaw and took me back to rest. I had a bit of temp, but i'm ok now so not to worry everyone!
Very much enjoyed Udaipur but looking forward to our next destination, gonna try the bus this time...
