Hello all from sunny Scotland, I think there may be a half hour period of sunshine, so thought I should start writing before another squall comes across!!
I would love to share some photos from the British Open, but all mobiles and cameras were confiscated at the entry gates. The security was quite intense, it was very similar to an airport with your bags through a scanner, and waving the wand over you as you entered.
Once all that was out of the way, it was onto the links. Initially I thought that my recent trip to Tassie playing Barnbugle was more difficult than this course, but upon closer inspection the fairways were about 1/2 to 1/3 of the width of Tasmania, so that makes a huge difference.
Got to see all the main players, and spent about 7 hours out there in sunshine, wind and rain. Actually got a little sunburnt, thats ironic...
Caught up with Jess' friend Burns on Sunday night. He lived only one tube stop down from where I was staying, so popped down and met him for a few pints and a feed.
Monday was horrible.
I dont know if the jetlag caught up with my or the Roast Pork Roll I had at the golf stitched me but I was sick.
Dizzy, Nauseous, arrgghhh... luckily I had mums medicine bag with me as the Stemizine did a very good job (for about 5 hours, then had another).
As I was on a 4.5 hour train trip to Edinburgh though it wasnt of so much consequence.
My thoughts travelling on the train were that if you bought a new house in England you would have no trouble meeting your neighbours as you would surely walk into the wrong house half the time, they all look the bloody same.
Arriving in Scotland the scenery changed, the countryside was a lot nicer, rolling hills and little estates.
Once we pulled into Edinburgh the drugs were wearing off, and the combination of me starting to feel horrible again and the super gothic feel of the town didnt combine well...
Checked into the SYHA which is very close to the city centre, got my key stuck in the door, and was sweating profusely. Got someone to let me in, smashed some panadols and more drugs, lay down on the bed at 5pm and next thing I know, here I am typing at 6:15 the next morning.
Feeling much better...
Am here for 3 nights so will be getting out and about from this morning doing lots of touristy things with plenty of photos, so check back in a couple of days for more! The one photo I have is a view from my room, albeit i was zooming past some grungy chimney stacks and concrete blocks haha.
Oh, and best present ever from Jess - BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD - so much easier than typing on a screen!
