Am starting to move into trip becoming a bit of a blur phase so sorry for slow updates... but I think if anywhere was going to do it to me it was when I started moving through the germany/czech republic phase of the trip.
You may have already looked through the photos I posted of Berlin a few days ago, my description would be that I can see why they are trying to make it the NY of Europe... but that they have a way to go hahaha.
But, who am I to say that having not seen NY yet, in a few weeks time I will be more qualified to say that. And who knows, I might be saying that there is no way NY is the Berlin of the USA.
All things being equal though this is a vibrant and happening city, it is a very multicultural place. The transportation is great, the subway in particular is easy and fast.
On my 2nd night in town I mingled with what turned out to be a contiki group... next thing I know its 5am and im lost trying to crawl through some overgrown bushes along the river as I recall my hotel being near a river.
Needless to say the day after that was just about a write off, and no doubt that evening is probably to blame for the headcold I have been fighting for a few days.
I definitely made up for lost time on my last day in Berlin with an all day travel pass in which I must have made over 20 u-bahn and s-bahn rides.
Museum Island, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Zoo, Postdam Plaza, Market Square, a tonne of famous monuments and much more...
All washed down with some tender Currywurst.
From Berlin the train ride down to the Czech Republic was really beautiful once you get through Dresden.
You basically wind your way through a valley with river looking at the castles and/or monastaries dotting the cliffs above.
And then you step off the platform in sunny...
