Well its been a fun couple of days for me and chuck. We are really getting to see a lot of the countryside, and the varying landscapes are at times breathtaking.
Journeying north from Perth to Inverness you go through densly wooded mountains, it all looks a bit Canadian to me. There we went to Blair Castle, it was quite a good setup with lots of old furniture, weaponry and storyline.
Today I continued up to Inverness which is through the Highlands, after the forested mountains it opens up into the greeny/grey mountains that you picture when you think Braveheart. I had some time to kill once I got here, so kept driving NW to a little seaside town called Ullapool about 50 miles further on.
The driving over here is fast. There is a road sign which is blue and a red cross on it, I think that means there is no speed limit... So like a lot of the locals I am gunning Chuck at 130-140 when I get the chance.
This afternoon was the Inverness Highland Games, which is a bit like Little Athletics meets Worlds Strongest Man meets Riverdance meets a Military Tattoo. Little Strongest Dancing Tattoo should be its name.
It was a lovely afternoon in the sunshine watching the various activities whilst downing a few lagers.
From tommorrow the hiking component of my trip begins through Loch Ness and then onto Isle of Skye for a couple of days.
