My time is Scotland is nearly up, leaving on a jet plane to Krakow in the morning, and onto the true travel test, the non english phase.
Have enjoyed the break from sight seeing the past few days by playing some golf... some good, mostly average!
First off was Inverness GC on Thursday, it was an average course, but enjoyed the company of David and Duncan who tried to give me the local knowledge.
Friday I drove down to a great course called Boat of Garten (thats the towns name as well). It was a lovely day, and some photos would have been good, but I left the camera in the car... There was a steam engine that ran alongside the course, and I played well too, so it was a really good day.
That night stayed in Aviemore which is sort of the adventure capital of Scotland I gather. Plenty of biking, hiking and skiing in the winter to be had it seems. My outdoor exploits are limited to 18 holes, a pint and scampi and chips at this stage.
Driving to Aberdeen after Aviemore I made my way up through the hills, and passed what must be their ski resort. The chair lifts were running and all, though it seemed as though if you went on a run you would be at the bottom of the hill in 5 minutes hahaha!
Aberdeen is a nice city, I like the architecture of the old houses which have a lot of business running out of them. The SYHA is in one of those houses, and it is quite good.
Went out for tea at the local, and the world cup draw was on telly. The majority of the scots in the crowd were hoping they would draw England in their pool, and I could hear a lot of 'were gonna fook u up', they were left dissapointed when Croatia was drawn though.
And now have just came back from playing Cruden Bay which was super tough, but deserving of its place in the top 100 in the world.
Very strange in parts though, about 1/3 of the holes are completely blind. Including one par 3 (the 15th) which if you look at the photo of it, you will understand. Dont know if I rate a blind par 3... kinda weird.
But none the less it was a good day out, and am now about to do some laundry and brush up one some basic Polish.
Hahaha - brush up, polish...
Hope to have free wifi from here on in so should be able to get some skype happening asap, as these SYHA's have been charging for internet use!
Till next time.
