Leaving oz
It's been 4 months now that I've worked at chill and its been an unreal experience, apart from meeting awesome people and friends for life, some crazy experiences working at the hostel and the other side to backpacker life looking after the drunk and crazy people.
Too many stories to tell about working there but I won't go into it, mostly because its quite foul but apart from that i had a great time working with the other staff. Living in that staff room you bond a lot more with the people that also stay longer and some you just click with naturally anyway, and when there's a bunch of you that stay for a while then you become like a little family.
It's always sad when people leave but that's the nature of travelling and you get use to it, also helps the fact you meet new people everyday too.
In the 4 months I came back to work at chill for there's been plenty of great times, like the fancy dress themed party every week, going to Steve irwins zoo, xxxx brewery tour, going to byron bay and nimbin or just having a party on the 3rd floor terrace or watching drunk people stumble around on the cameras.
The main reason I took the job was also so that I didn't have to go home earlier than I wanted to, back in January when I had literally 9 dollars in my oz bank account, but it also gave me the opportunity to save up enough money so that I could travel south east Asia too.
The end of the job also means the end of my stay in Australia, met so many great people who ill definitely be staying in touch with, I've told them all if they ever find themselves round my way we would go for a night out in the toon or go over their way.
All in all its been a blast in Australia, from the very start at calypso in cairns, doing the Great Barrier Reef and white water rafting, to the awesome trips like Whitsunday and Fraser Island, and also the hard times like Griffith and working for gypsies. And also the weird times such as nimbin and the unusual people and situations on nightshift. And a massive thanks to Scott Keayes and his family for taking me in for two weeks while I had no money and looked after me and also the management at chill who gave me a job in Brisbane which became my second home after spending in total 6 months in chill.
Next up south east Asia!
