- I went to meet John to find out about this job, only took a 15 - 20 minute walk and when I arrived it was a posh 4 1/2 star hotel. He explained that the car park on the ground floor would be getting turned into a restaurant and the room opposite a bar and on the second floor they would change the sauna into a gym. The job would take 5-6 weeks and it was full time, with pay being 22 dollars an hour which was fine by me!
Accepted the job and got hired, he asked me if I knew any other people who needed a job so I would ask round the hostel. That same day I met Kate, matt and nicole from Fraser island. We started hanging round together and got Matt the same job as me. We went into town to check out the place, I finally ordered some new contacts since I'd been wearing glasses for about 3 weeks. And bought a new digital camera. Checked out the lagoon which is massive compared to the others I've been too, best way really since it's a big city. I met Heather and jacob who I met up with a couple of times down the coast and had a night out with them in the city.
We were supposed to go to the valley (fortitude valley) where the good night life is suppose to be but instead we went to central. Central is full of more sort of high class bars and stuff but we did go to a place called the belgium beer cafe. Went straight for a pint of Stella and it was class. They have two sinks at the bar, dip you glass in one sink to wash it and the other is full of ice to clean it, then they pour the pint and if there's too much head they use a knife to take it off. Was a lush pint but bloody expensive!
Problem with central is that there's a lot of people proper dressed up and its a bit too high class for backpackers but some pubs were fine. Found a bar with a live band so we chilled there for the night.
