Airlie beach is a nice place, really small though, similar to home that it just has one big large street that's full of pubs and a few restaurants. The main reasons people come here are to party and do the Whitsunday islands. At the weekends all the Australian football teams book out a couple of the hostels and drink all day and night. Not hard to spot either as they all wear the same vests, put theyre cap on backwards, shout a lot and are pretty chunky lads.

I met that other geordie Karl here, he works on the boats as a cook every now and then. Planning on watching the derby at my hostel with him and one of my room mates tomorrow night. I met up with Jacob and Heather again, we had a BBQ next to the lagoon one night but they've left to do Fraser island.

Almost got a job on one of the islands as a housekeeper at a 5 star hotel, saw a brochure for it and it looked a tidy place. But I had no experience and it is so busy over there the woman said they needed someone that could help out straight away but I would imagine it doesn't take a lot to learn how to housekeep but nevermind.

Had a few days at the beaches hostel but then had to change for the weekend because it was booked out by all the footballers I presume and good thing really, the 36 year old bloke in my room was a bit weird, nice guy but weird, had sex in the room while I was sleeping, well he woke me up doing it so that was an experience, made even worse by the fact I was desperate for the toilet while waiting for him to finish.

Done with airlie now, it's just drinking every night and booze is so expensive and doing it a few days straight just makes you feel rough. Booked whitsunday and Fraser island so from Monday I'll be pretty much busy for 10 days having a mint time visiting one of the best beaches in the world and doing more snorkelling while partying on a boat. And at Fraser island driving around the sand dunes in a 4wd and camping on the island for a couple nights. Should be sweet!
