We left our camp this morning and drove for about two hours and visited a school, all the kids were out playing and as soon as they saw us they immediately surrounded the truck yelling "Give me one birr!" We went and had a quick look at their class rooms and played with them for a bit before heading off to visit our last tribe. It was probably a good thing this was our last tribe, I think some of the crew were getting a bit tribed out. There was a local market on and we stayed for about twenty minutes, we drove off up the road and Dave stopped because there was a giant dead python in the middle of the road. I immediately jumped off and asked our guide, Daster to take my picture with it. Dave stuck its tail in my ear while Daster was taking the photo, which made me giggle. I thought it was one of the many kids surrounding the snake that was doing it
Leaving the snake alone, we drove for about another two hours along a really bad mountain road, we past a few other trucks, who said that the bridge was out ahead. We got to the bridge and Dave asked us all to get out of the truck in case it all went wrong. It took a bit to get over the ditch, but we made it and piled back on. We drove on and pulled up in this random village, at a random campsite, which I can safely say, was the worst place we've stayed, I don't think it was the scheduled camp. The toilets were definitely the most disgusting I've ever seen and I've now peed in bushes, actually a bush is usually the cleanest place to go now days for me.
We had gotten in a bit early, so most of us just sat around and sweated for about two hours. I wanted to go out and explore the village for a bit, but was not keen to go on my own. Finally some of the others wanted to go in, so some of us went for a walk. The village took about twenty minutes to walk around and it was not an overly pleasant experience, with the kids, as always in tow. I actually had to take off one of my new bracelets, as they kept trying to steal it. We did manage to pick up a pumpkin, food here is a bit hard to come by at times, being in Ethiopia, so we tend to grab things we can cook with where ever we can.
We headed back to the camp and sat around and sweated some more and then had our dinner. There wasn't much to do, so we just went to bed as we had an early start in the morning for our drive to Arba Minch. I was given the task of locking everything up...Dave made fun of me the next morning because I had "over secured everything".
