What a day….I think I need a holiday.The rain was pretty intense last night, so now all the dirt roads are mud roads.We got bogged a fair few times today.At one point we actually had to wait for a new road to be constructed until we could move on.We waited an hour and then the locals managed to get a digger in to remove the truck that was bogged in the mud in front of us.I remember watching the digger lift and push the truck out and thinking, this will not end ...

Full days drive today, from Axum to Debark, the Gateway to the Simien Mountains. We arrived quite late and checked straight into our hotel. We went out for dinner at another hotel and I had spaghetti, yet again. I had one of the best nights sleep I've had on the entire trip, the beds actually had real spring mattresses.
