We had a very easy journey, by recent standards, to Koh Tao. The ferry takes about two hours from Koh Samui and then we got on a taxi boat and it took us up the coast of the Island to Mango Bay.
We stayed in a bungalow (high up) on the side of the hill which gave us a great view over Mango bay and the gulf of Thailand. The resort we stayed at is only accessible by boat which explains why it is one of the quietest places in the whole of Thailand.
Despite the walk to and from our bungalow (which required crampons and oxygen) it was a great place. The restaurant/bar sat above a sunbathing deck that you could jump straight off into the sea (or there were steps for Lucy). Mango Bay is used by lots of the diving schools and the snorkeling along the reef was fabulous.
After three days of no shoes, no news, no internet, no TV and only having each other to talk to we have made it to Koh Phangan. Our resort here is perched on the top of a hill on the North of the Island and although nearly as quiet the town is only £2 away in a tuk tuk. We arrived at the same time as a huge thunderstorm so we have explored as far as the internet café!
