I need to get out of Chaing Mai. Its been nice to catch up with Mo and also to remember the past both with Thailand and with us. Come to terms with change.
We go back to the Wild Boar. Andy Murray playing Federer. A few days old so I know that Andy loses. I get some chicken noodle soup. More effort was put into the design on top of the coffee. I book a bus to Chiang Rai for tomorrow. It feels good to be getting back on the road again. Time to move forward. We go to the Top North hotel to use the pool.
Mo lets me dump my rucksack off at her hotel. Means I just have a day pack again. The rain comes from nowhere and there is no sign of let up. We start walking, my street is flooded. Luckily a tuk tuk is dropping someone off and we head to Johns. From Johns we head to Mr Kai, a recommendation for a masaman curry. The weather has tempted the owner to close it but we head next door to the Pirates Cove. Not a first or second choice but we're out of the rain. The food was excellent, quite the surprise. The German owners Thai girlfriend is a great cook. I get a yellow curry and its seasoned really well. Lumps of potato are through the dish. Mo tries to speak to her in Thai but her dialect is Chiang Mai and doesnt understand fully. We had to wait a while for the dinner but she shows us a raw potato and explains many restaurants have them precooked whereas she cooks from scratch (LT). Apart from a bloody parrot locked in a cage its a worthwhile food venue. We head up to Johns, the rain slowing. Stay for just one beer as my road was partly flooded earlier so don't want to get caught out. The temperature has dropped removing the humidity. We grab a tuk tuk back to my guesthouse (Baan Chiang Noi hotel)
