Pouring with rain and I book in for another night. Head up to a cafe called the Wild Boar for lunch. Not an inspiring menu and settle for chicken club sandwiches with deathtraps laid for the unwary, little toothpicks embedded inside. Snatch, the Guy Ritchie film plays in the background. A memory floods back. Restaurants used to play pirate films all over Thailand. I remember watching an early copy of Men in Black wondering if the film was intentionally that bad. The version I saw was an early edit with no special effects. I sit at the guesthouse writing up notes and watching a few Still Games. Mo heads over and I find a copy of Ted 2. Later we walk up to the bazaar and find a local restaurant with ducks hanging up. A great viewpoint to people watch. The market is empty tonight. More food than we require but hearty. I'm disappointed with Thai food overall so far. Food has lost some of its spark here. It can still be found at some little blue chair cafes and the odd restaurant but it shouldnt be that hard. Thailands eagerness for tourism and pleasing the tourist has come at a price. We have a few beers back at mine and watch some Still Game.
