Day 101. Today we went on an outing with Raechel's sister Lyn and mother Sylvia to the nearby small towns of Wallaroo and Kadina in the Copper Coast Region. At Wallaroo we saw the huge grain storage silos and bunkers holding wheat, barley and legumes. A ship was being loaded by conveyor belt with wheat being exported to Egypt. This will be a very busy place during harvest time in late October as the grain crop is expected to be excellent. Wallaroo has many fine old stone buildings including a majestic town hall and a long jetty. At nearby Kadina we had lunch in a local pub where we met Raechel's nephew Ben and his wife Deanne who are involved in the grain processing industry. Kadina also has some beautiful old heritage buildings and a lively main street. Back in Port Broughton we rested at our van before joining the family members for a farewell dinner at the local pub. Raechel found some local pickled crab which will be added to our pantry for the trip south east over coming days. Fine sunny day, 16 degrees. Drove 90km.
