Day 3. Sitting in the van with hot drinks, light rain falling with our heater on after an adventurous day. Just returned from dinner at the Port Broughton Hotel with Raechel's family. Today we followed the mighty Murray River through Waikerie and the vast vineyards and citrus orchards of the Riverland to old river town of Morgan. We passed through Cobdogla, Banrock Station and Oxford Landing wine regions, buying fresh fruit at a roadside stall. At Morgan we were surprised by the old car ferry crossing, but our 12 metre rig easily fitted onboard for the short trip across the Murray. From Morgan we passed through flat saltbush country to old Cornish tin mining town of Burra with its quaint stone buildings and miners' cottages, then onto Clare for pasties at the local bakehouse. Yummy! Then over the green foothills of the Mt Lofty Ranges to Bute, Snowtown and finally Port Broughton. Drove 330km today but much sightseeing.
