Day 5. Farewell to Lyn and Colin in Port Broughton. A nice drive up the Spencer's Gulf to Port Pirie for grocery shopping and then onto Port Augusta for refuelling and picnic lunch in the park. Some big power stations, coal-fired we assume. Then we headed north on the Stuart Highway A1, saw our first sign for Darwin! Just before Pimba we stopped for a brilliant vista across to Island Lagoon, then drove past crowded Spud's Roadhouse out to Woomera for an overnight stay in the local caravan park. Lots of old rockets and aircraft here, looks like a partly deserted government town but being rebirthed as a RAAF base. Drove 340km today, fine and sunny 15 degrees.
