This morning I took a 30 minute helicopter flight to view Franz Josef and Fox glacier's. There were 3 other punters and the pilot in the helicopter. We flew over Franz Josef glacier and then landed on the top of the mountain for a photo opportunity. Then flew back down over Fox glacier. The flight was a lot smoother than I expected. I quite enjoyed it but I expected the glaciers to be bigger.
Perhaps I've just been spoilt by see the Perito Moreno glacier in Patagonia.
I grabbed a quick lunch and drove to Lake Matteson. It was a 2 hour circular walk around the lake. Sunny and fresh. The views were spectacular, with the mountains fully reflected in the lake. Luckerly when I finished walking the cafe was still open and I was able to sit in the sun with an ice cream. Another lovely day.
