It was pouring again today. Any plans of walking were dashed. We caught the tram into Bern and walked along the longest shopping street in Europe. A couple of kms long. And all under cover which was great! At the far end we reached the Bear put where there are 5 bears roaming loose. Back in history they were used to protect Bern from invaders but now they have a very nice enclosure along the river. After lunch we went back to Chris and Di's apartment for a cuppa. We bought pastries to enjoy with it before we left the city. By the time we had finished our cuppa the rain had eased so we ventured out to climb the only hill in Bern. There was a music festival up there that night so we walked up with lots of excited youth. Eventually we took a different path through a wooded area which led to a round tower which had great views from the top. Well, the views would have been great if the clouds hadn't come in and blocked the view! We walked back down a different way and caught a bus back to Bern when we reached the bottom. By this time it was getting late so time for dinner and packing bags.
