A big travel day taking the boat from Mykonos to Athens!
We caught the 2:15pm boat leaving Mykonos and with two other stops along the way, it was a 5.5 hour journey to the Piraeus port in Athens. We got in just after 8pm and took the metro to our apartment in the heart of Athens right near the eastern side of the Acropolis. Thank you Myles and Nina for suggesting this place to us what an amazing location!! The room is amazing and has everything you need and a full kitchen. And our hosts father Yannis(sp?) Was there to greet us when we arrived and kicked things off with a shot of raki each! He was such a nice and generous host and showed us around and gave us all the necessary info and he was on his way. We headed out for dinner and enjoyed some chicken and lamb. Unfortunately they initially brought Sarah's dinner to the wrong table so they gave us another half a litre of wine on the house! Great way to start our time in Athens! This is probably the latest we have ever eaten... Started at 10pm and left at 11:30! Its hard to believe the Acropolis is literally a few blocks away from us and so excited to start exploring the city tomorrow! Now for a good nights sleep!
PS. Myles and Nina, you will enjoy the picture from today, so cool to find the note you guys left behind on your visit here!! How cool is that!? Will be sure to add to it when we leave ;)
