Our first day in London started with an amazing English breakfast of poached eggs, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, baked beans and toast mmmmm. We then started to go for an explore when we were approached by a guy selling tickets for the hop on/hop off bus tours, so we bought a ticket for this and got onboard, it was an open top bus and it wasn't until it started that we realised how bloody cold it was brrrr, jackets, gloves, scarves and beanies were required lol. It was amazing to see the streets of London with all the bustle and taxi cabs. We got to see the tower bridge, the London eye, parliament and Big Ben amongst other things, was a bit overwhelming really seeing all the landmarks you grow up seeing on telly in the flesh. Was a bit of a crappy day trying to get around as there were union marches and 100,000 people crammed into the city so the place had come to a bit of a standstill. We got off the bus at Buckingham palace, oh my, what an amazing sight that was, we saw the guards and the balcony where all the newlywed royals have kissed. It was a real treat seeing it first hand. We walked through the gardens on Diana's memorial path, Trent saw his first squirrel (I think it was love). We went past Downing Street (this was packed with marches going past the prime ministers residence) had a closer look at Big Ben and the London eye, had a look at the RAF memorial on the Thames. We then headed to Trafalgar Square (again full of protestors) had a quick squiz around that area and headed to the ticket place to get our London pass so we could get discounts and free entry into the places we were going over the next few days. We also booked our Stonehenge tour and the Harry potter experience. After this was done it was back on the bus and back to the hotel. It was pub grub for dinner tonight at the London pub, I had chicken Kiev and it was yum. Back to the hotel to try and find cheaper accommodation for the rest of the week.
