Our train to Oslo was pretty fun, we got to see the great scenery again and we also spent a lot of time in the train's restaurant car with Doug and Lawrence over a couple beers trying to get some life advice from gentlemen wiser and more successful (they have jobs) than ourselves. Oslo turned out to be a nice city, but like Helsinki it was a little smaller than I expected, only about 500,000 people. However, it seemed to have a little more character than Helsinki. Oslo is a nice city, but nothing I would list as a must see, because the western part of Norway is much nicer. One of the highlights of Oslo is the statue park that has over 200 sculptures done by one of the city's more famous artists. It was pretty amazing and it was over 80 acres in size, so it was pretty big. We also hiked to the castle which is located right on a hill above one of the ports, so it had some good views. However, we didn't have the opportunity to give Oslo a fair chance because most of the museums in Europe are closed on Mondays for whatever reason. And that's really unfortunate because most of Oslo's museums were free, and there were a couple I really wanted to see, like the Viking Ship Museum, and the museum that covers Norway's history over a period of 9000 years. It should also be mentioned this is the most expensive place I've ever been to, their taxes are ridiculous, I bought a drink for 4.90 krona (which was dirt cheap) and after taxes it was about 8 krona. Regardless, I liked Oslo.
After seeing all of the Scandinavian capitals, here are the power rankings for the cities.
1. Stockholm
2. Copenhagen
3. Oslo
4. Helsinki
