We took a train all night from Brussels to Nice to Montpellier, total travel time of about 15 hours. We went to Montpellier because Sean%uFFFDs cousin is marrying a French girl in her hometown. The wedding took place first in a town hall with the mayor for the official marriage and the second part of the wedding was in a cathedral for the more traditional marriage. It was really odd because half of the wedding was in English and half in French. The reception was absolutely amazing, it was in the castle of a small village. Cocktails were seved from about 6 to 8 in the courtyard of the castle, which was on top of a hill overlooking a village. For the meal we were seated and served the first of five courses. After the second course there was about an hour break for dancing, definitely not typical for an American wedding. Then after the dancing we sat back down and ate again, sounds more American than French to eat before and after dancing. The third course was lamb and it was probably the best I%uFFFDve ever had, and on top of that everybody felt bad for us because they didn%uFFFDt think we were eating well during backpacking so everybody that didnt finish their lamb gave the remainder to me and Sean. After the meal was finished the dance floor opened again and this time stayed open till 5 in the morning. Basically, it was about a 12 hour reception, and it flew by, definitely one of our better days in Europe. Congratulations to Mike and Sophie.
