Day 152, 3 December 2012, Hemel Hempstead's Old Town. The hard frosts melted away over night and we woke up to pouring rain. Which necessitated an actual lazy day - yay! After lunch it fined up and we headed from the New Town, via the High Street, to the picturesque old town. It's been around 12 weeks since James last had a haircut (Essaouira in Morocco!) - so the sight of an inexpensive barber was too good to pass up - so down we went to visit the Afghan bloke with the porn mags in the waiting room.... verwy, verwy manly spot for a haircut. We walked back through the park and spotted this ideal "island escape" - BYO canoe! It being a quiet day and all, the next highlight was drinks at the local pub - The Queens Head and fish & chips from the shop next door... and of course seeing the boys and girls from Dominoes dressed up as pizza boxes with Santa hats and beards. Strange. But true. Early night as we're getting up at 5 am to get to Luton Airport for our flight to Budapest, Hungary - European Christmas Markets Cruise - here we come (got a great 2 for 1 deal from www.vacationstogo.com).
