Day 195, 15 January 2013. Bansko. The Dark Side. OK. Well that might be a tiny bit melodramatic. Since I had such a great day yesterday doing zip/nada/not a lot, I was super fit and ready to go. James, not so much. But you get that. We had a great day tearing up the blue and black runs of Bansko resort. Our guide Vasl has finally figured out that steep slopes do not scare me... out of control lunatics screeching down green runs and using other skiers as stopping-aids scare me. It had gotten to the stage of shutting my eyes on the lifts to avoid seeing the skittle approach to skiing. We had an excellent afternoon going up and down the best lift in the resort which coincidentally leads to the hardest run in the resort, which was essentially all ours. Heaven. Up and down. Up and down. Glorious stuff. Powder forecast for the weekend. But I think they're just saying that. Quiet evening visiting a couple of mehanas (taverns) in the old town square. Open fires. Red wine. Bulgarian cuisine. All good. Rest day for both of us tomorrow before we get into it again on Thursday and Friday. Rest of course means laundry/postcards/blog/catching up on correspondence/travel booking for Canada and the USA and balancing the books to pay for it all. Might need a rest day from the rest day.
