Hi Everyone!!
THE MOTHER HAS ARRIVED!!! (Thank you for all the lovely cards and pressies, I absolutely love them all. Its so nice to see everyone's handwriting again because its so familiar to me and normally all I see is computer writing! I've had them all on my bedside table for the last 2 nights. I'm keeping them with me for the rest of my travels so I can keep reading them!)
Sorry I haven't written the blog in so long but I wasn't really up to that much apart from lying by a pool and now that I have stuff to tell you I can't be bothered to write about all the boring stuff before mumsie arrived. I basically went from Ko Tao back to Ko Phangan for a few days then flew up to Bangkok. Bangkok was mental when we arrived because for their new year they have 4 days of constant water fights and they water down clay and wipe it EVERYWHERE!! We were booked into an amazing hotel hotel because I wanted to sort out somewhere good before mumsie arrived so she wouldn't be freaked out. It is an amazing hotel and only 20pound a night (which is usual 2 days budget for me so it is expensive!)
Me and Lisa went to Khao san road to see the festival and there was literally millions of people crammed into the street, you couldn;t walk at all and they were all throwing buckets of water over us and wiping clay on our faces. We got sick of it oretty quickly and got a tuk tuk back to our hotel but when we stopped at tracffic lights they would attack us, it was very fuuny. You have to see the pics on facebook!
The next day I had to go to cambodia which was 5 hours drive away, then leave thailand, enter cambodia, corss the road, leave cambodia and go back into thailand so that I get another 30 day visa. Then it was a 5 hour journey back to bangkok, very tiring!!
On Wednesday mumsie arrived. I was soo terrified that something was going to go wrong and she wouldn't get here but it was all fine. She was really panicking too because when she arrived the form says "visa number" and she thought that everyone had forgot to tell her to get a visa so she was scared she'd have to go home!! She is very impressed with the hotel but I keep teasing her that we'll be back to basics soon so she has to make the most of the hot showers. We even have a tv and fridge which is total luxury for me!
We sat by the pool drinking margaritas and looking out over bangkok then went for dinner on Khao san road. We were in bed pretty early and then got up early the next morning to start the sightseeing. Mum didn't believe me about the temperature until we went to the palace at 8:30am and nearly died from the heat. We had a few hours at the palace and went to see the reclining buddha, then got a boat to china town and had a wander around there. After that we went back and spent the day by the pool because it was too hot to move!
That night we went to my favourite restuarant which is called cabbages and condoms and all the profit goes towards aids awareness. The food is so lovely and then we went a bit mad in the gift shop and bought loads of stuff. It was a really good night.
The next morning we were up at 6am because we had booked an all day trip out of the city. We went to the floating markets first which were really cool. A woman who looked about 80 paddled us around the market for about an hour. We saw a horrible thing swimming in the water which was like a huge lizard or tiny crocodile but mum was a bit freaked out after that and always looking out for things in the water!
It was probably the hottest day in the world yesterday so we were dying by 9am. Then we had to drive for 2 hours to the bridge over the river kwai. We didn;t even realise that we were going here. The museum was pretty rubbish but then we walked over the bridge which was quite cool. Neither of us knew the story of the bridge so we have bought a book about it. I made mum walk half way over because she was scared that we'd fall off. It was really dangerous because it wasn;t made for walking over at all and you could easily have fallen into the water!
Then we drove for another hour to the tiger temple which is like an open style zoo but run by buddhas who have rasied some tigers which are totally calm so you can have pics taken with them. We were so hot when we got there that we couldn;t be bothered but as soon as we saw them we were really excited. They take loads of pics of you with them which was really cool. Mum obvioulsy hasn't bought her camera lead with her so we can't upload hers but mine are on facebook!
We didn;t get back to Bangkok until 7pm so we had been out and about for 12 hours. I was absolutley knackered so we had an early night again! Today we checked out of the hotel and had a few hours by the pool. Now we are staying in the air con shopping centres until 6pm and then we are getting an overnight train to Chiang mai. We have first class sleeper tickets booked so it should all be satisfactory for mum. Its weird doing Thailand again but having the best rooms and best train tickets etc. Its going to be a major shock when I have to go back to budget everything!!
Thats all for now, I will try and keep up to date with the blog but we are moving around every 2 days so we're pretty busy.
Thanks again for all the lovely cards, I LOVE THEM!!
Missing you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
