Hello!
After I wrote last night I went for a little wander but felt very lost and alone because everyone was in big gangs in bars etc. So I was going to go home but I thought I need to be brave and just go into a bar so I picked one that had a thai guy singing oasis tunes with a guitar and got myself a drink. I was feeling abit foolish on my own but after about 20mins this irish girl asked me to join her and her 2 friends. They had been in Thailand for 5 weeks and this was their last night. They said they were leaving after that drink but I was welcome to join them. Then this guy walked past and turned out to be the neighbour of one of the girls and they hadn't seen each other in years, very small world! So he joined us with 2 other irish guys he had met that night. Then the partying began, we were all getting really drunk and Peter (irish guy traveloing on his own) had just arrived in Bangkok the same time as me so he asked if I wanted to travel up to the north together, and of course I do as he is 6ft 3 and nobody messes with him!!
After that we got a tuk tuk (very fun scooter type thing with a little car on the back) to the red light district and went to see a ping pong show. Us girls were all a bit freaked out but then we realised that most of them were ladyboys so we didnt mind so much! They kept coming over and rubbing our necks though and demanding money so we left and went to another one which had friendly girls in who were just messing around. I had to pretend to be Peter's wife to save him from spending a fortune! They were following him into the toilet and everything. The guys seemed very confused because these 'women' were beautiful but at the same the time they are still men!!
It can be really hard to tell with some of them though, first we were looking for an adam's apple, then big hands and feet and if that failed it was the thickness of the neck! It was a really good night, we got home about 3:30am and I was knackered.
I have just booked another night at this hostel and now I am going to try and find peter in an irish bar (how ironic) and see if we can sort out a train to Chiang mai for trekking and cookery course! Yay! The train takes about 12 hours but only costs about 4 pound so isn't too bad!
Just had some fresh melon for my breaksfast which was good and now I need to get going and actually do something before the day ends! I want to see the palace and the buddha and I need to find a post office and then I'll probably call it a day. Like is much more chilled out here. I like it!
Love to you all, keep the messages coming they make me laugh! XXXXXXXXX
Its me again......just had a most unproductive day! Went to find Peter and he was playing pool with loads of thai guys, he is the sort of guy who has 8 million friends so I sat with them for a bit and found out that one of the thai guys is actually a film star so now I mix with celebs! Then we went off for some lunch to this little dirty/authentic looking place that Peter had found. i would NEVER have chosent to eat their on my own because nobody spoke english and they all looked at us like we were crazy. There was only one thing on the menu so surprisingly we had that, we weren't too sure about what it was but there was definately soup and noodles. I let Peter try the chunks first and then decided which ones to try!
Then I wanted to post mny stuff home but the post office had closed because we had wasted too much time so we walked and walked all over the place. We just picked random roads and walked down them, got lost and then walked back. The I decided that we had to do something productive so we went to book our train tickets but got distracted by nothing and lost a few more hours. Eventually the tickets were booked and we are going to Chaing Mai at 10pm tomorrow and arriving at midday on Monday.
Its nice travelling with somebody for a change because I can just let him make the decisions and follow along behind. Then I wanted to go to the palace but it was closed so then we were going to go to the huge weekend market but once again couldn;t get our acts together. He is such a bad influence on me because I would have seen the whole of Bangkok by now if I was on my own!
Anyway after some bargaining we hired a tuk tuk driver for an hour to take us around to a few temples and stuff. Its all quite boring stuff because when you've seen one then I'd say you have pretty much seen them all, although many people would disagree!
Anyway I am just back at my room for a few hours and then I'm going to meet Peter and this aussie guy Andy that we met at lunchtime. Not going to stay out for long because I'm knackered from last night and the heat is a killer! Its supposed to be much cooler in Chaing Mai which will be good weather for the trekking.
Speak to you all soon, have a good weekend and enjoy your fireworks! xxxxx
