Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
This morning we hiked up to the top of Gunlom (formerly UDP falls, a.k.a. Waterfall Creek) which was made famous in the original Crocodile Dundee movie. It was climbing up rock steps for about half an hour but Zach managed and Liam walked some too. At the top there are quite a few choices in plunge pools. We went towards the front of the falls first as these were the shallowest and there was a small waterfall for Liam to play with.
We moved towards the back pools where just Matt and I went into the deeper part to explore a narrow gorge. It involved climbing over a few rocks and then the crevice came to an end with a nice waterfall coming from above.
Once back down the bottom we looked at the plunge pool at the bottom of the falls which only a small trickle was running. It would look spectacular in full flow. We didn't swim here because there was a bit of gunk floating around on the surface.
We then packed up and visited Yellow Water Wetlands. It was a really nice place but there were hardly any wildlife which I expected there to be plenty of, especially bird life. They do run boat tours so I'm not sure if it was any different elsewhere on the wetlands.
Next stop was our caravan park in Jabiru. It was a nice park with a great pool. The kids had a splash late afternoon but the water was a bit cold.
