The classic story before a bus ride, got up at 6:30 to be ready to be picked up at 7 as on our tickets. But of course just ended up waiting until 7:50 enforce that tuktuk took us to the bus station to leave at 8.
Pretty nice bus (not night so regular seats) but lots of room, and even got fed a very average breakfast (but food is food!!). Drove for 3ish hours, I read while sophie slept, until we hit the Thai boarder. Got of bus and signed out of Cambodia, then walked to Thailand arrivals, slightly nervous about not having visas (still on tourist exemption thing) and had out proof of onward travel ready..
No need at all, stamped through no problem, didn't even need to show them the tickets! Back on the bus and fed a surprisingly nice pork noodle thing, too spicy for sophie so I got 2 :-D yum!
Guy behind us threw up into a bag half way along the journey, then the bag split so we had the smell of sick and a slow stream heading down towards us for the rest of the journey! Got into Bkk bus station, obviously in the major outskirts and shared a cab with American girl called Nicole to Khao San Road. She headed off to her hostel, and me and soph got a room in greenhouse, a place we'd really liked when we were in bangkok last. Settled in then went for some food (nice pad Thai again). Randomly bumped into alex cole (one of my old uni housemates) and arranged to meet him at 8:30 for some khao San drinking :-)
Wandered the street for a bit, then found a good spot for a few drinks, and got a mixed bag of bugs, were all kinda gross, and some thai people ate one or two and said they weren't good as they were so old! chatted with some air hostesses for a bit, then r bh, vs: v, aircon didn't work either so very hot sleep
