Woke at 7:45 to make sure I could get to the clinic in time to have my cut re-cleaned before we had to catch the bus at 9. Got to the clinic, and was told there was no way I'd be done by 9, very frustrating as the guy yesterday had ensured me it would be fine!! So instead I'm going to have to hunt down a place in krabi to get it done.
So went I get some breakfast instead, and just chilled for a bit - I had checked out by now so couldn't go back to bed :-(
Got a taxi to the pier at 9ish then of on the boat at 9:30, hour long ride, then off the boat to wait for another boat on koh panyang.
Got boat finally into donsak, an from there surprisingly efficiently loaded onto a nice bus, was very happy, having just bought a new good book on the kindle.
About halfway through the 3 hour drive the bus stopped and engine off, I thought nothing of it as unexplained stops are a regular occurrence in this part of the world. However it turned out we had broken down (cover pic is of bus stuck on side of road)!! Ended up stuck on the side of an empty highway for an hour and a half, no aircon on the bus so sat outside in the shade (luckily I still had my book so I was pretty content tbh).
Finally another bus showed up and took us to krabi, from the bus stop we got a shuttle bus, asked for 'town centre' as we had no idea where to go. Got dropped off directly outside a nice looking hostel so stayed there (was very nice, and cheap!).
This was about 19:00 and I asked I there were any clinics I could get my foot re-covered at, she said yes but that they shut at 20:00!! So I rushed out to hunt one down, got sent from one side of town to the other, eventually ended up at a peadeatrition (or so I'm guessing as it was all kids) but they rejected me as well, but after returning to the hostel and asking for a map eventually found a strange street corner place, wouldn't have trusted it with any needles or whatever, but figured a clean and bandage change is pretty hard to screw up! I was the only westerner there, but nice doctor and only charged me 60 baht for a clean and re-bandaging.
Went out of food at the local night food market place, and had a very nice chicken bean soup thing, and met a girl called Charlotte, chatted with her for a bit, then wandered to the night market (not just food) with her. As with all markets I've developed a saying: 'same tat different city', but still nice to walk through and have a look (admittedly at the same stuff I've seen a million times).
Said goodbye to Charlotte as she went for a massage and I headed back to the hostel, planning on a early, restful night as we got a taxi to the airport at 5:30 tomorrow morning :-( chatted with the people in the dorm for a bit then sleep (some went for beers, but I'm using the antibiotics as a good excuse to have a few detox days).
