Another beautiful day here. I have been chilling on the beach for the day and it has been glorious. Chris went off on a boat trip then kayaking around Adele Island where he saw some seals. He then took a water taxi and walked for a couple of hours on a forest tramp. He caught the boat back around 6 pm. In the evening we went to the restaurant on site for food and a couple of drinks and the pub next door had some music on for a couple of hours which was enjoyable....

Same place today and the weather has been fantastic, on the beach nearly all day. Purchased an umbrella and had a lovely chilled out day. Lunch in the restaurant with a couple of beers. Back at the van chilling in the shade under our canopy. Reading, playing cards. Very peaceful. Lots of water sports on the beach and boat trips.

This morning we left Greymouth and at 10 am we went on a two hour trip on 4 x 4 mud buggies. It was great fun and we were dressed head to toe in jackets trousers wellies and helmets. We drove through rivers, bogs, and very steep up and down terrain through the forest with huge areas of deep bog. At one point we had to be towed out. This is probably the best 4x4 activity we have ever done. At times it was extremely hairy but exhilarating at the same time. Picture...

This morning we woke up to lovely sunshine. We headed off and went to the Oyira Viaduct outlook which was ok. We then continued to Brunner Mine site walk. We did an hour and twenty minute walk around, taking in all the information about the mine which was very interesting. In 1896 there was an explosion in the mine killing 65 men. This morning we woke to very heavy rain. We headed off and stopped at Hokituka for a brunch but the rain is still heavy. We have now continued half an hour up the road to Hokitika Canyon and the rain is still unforgiving. We met a lady yesterday who said it is a beautiful spot on a sunny day and the water is very blue. However, she said if it’s raining the water would be grey as the limestone turns it that way. It is a 15 minute walk there and 15 minute back. I...
