This morning we woke up to lovely sunshine. We headed off and went to the Oyira Viaduct outlook which was ok. We then continued to Brunner Mine site walk. We did an hour and twenty minute walk around, taking in all the information about the mine which was very interesting. In 1896 there was an explosion in the mine killing 65 men. Surprisingly the horses they used in the minds refused three times that day to enter. They were then blindfolded and taken in and within the hour the mine exploded. Very sad but they have made a great memorial area around this and well worth a visit. We have now continued to Greymouth centre. We usually stay in a Top 10 campsite which have been excellent but today it was a little far out so we have decided to do A central one. To say its basic would be an understatement. We are parked with a few other camper vans at the back of a garage.
