Much better night's sleep. I woke up a few times to hear rain pouring down but remained dry inside thank goodness. Finally got up at 9am SA time, which was late enough to start the generator and have a coffee - all is right with the world! It's gloomy and overcast - very different to last week when SA was having unusually high temperatures and fires were springing up everywhere. We had breakfast, a much faster affair when on the road, and packed up the van. Our bed was very wet around the edges but the boys was ok. We were on the road for 10am and looking forward to a decent camp tonight. On the road we listened to the radio and the Nullabor was the wettest place in SA last night, getting 32mm - typical Mulligan luck! Made it to Ceduna for 1145am. Here you go through SA quarantine and throw out all your fruit and veg but we had already done that at the overnight stop. No queue and within 5 minutes we were all done. Filled up with fuel (92 litres at 164.9) and emptied the toilet at a dump point (BAD job - especially for the poor guy who was stood there about to treat the dump point!!). Drove on to Streaky Bay and arrived around 1pm. Luckily they had a powered site available so we booked in for the next 2 nights. It's beautiful here so thank you to Sophie and Mitchell Collins granddad, Bill, who gave us the tip! The caravan park is spotless and set on the foreshore just outside of town. We opened up the van to air it all out and hung our bedding out on the line to dry, then drove into town for lunch. Found a great little bakery and ate in - Anna and Jonny entertained everyone inside with their dancing! Visited the IGA and replenished our fruit and veg - Grapes here are only $3 a kg, not like WA's $15 a kg!!! Came home and spring cleaned the van, as it was full of mud inside then walked the beach. The kids found some friends to play with so Nick and I sat and read. Made dinner around 7pm and then walked back into town to the Jetty, getting back around 9pm just as the sun was going down. Showers then bed - its great to feel clean again!
