We were all awake early and as Nick had packed up most of the van the night before were on the road by 830am. The drive through SA to Port Pirie was very pretty and we stopped in a lovely little town called Burra for morning tea. Without children it would have been a great place to stay for a while and explore the old book and antique shops. Once at Port Pirie we were retracing our steps and it felt like we were finally heading home. We stopped in Port Augusta for lunch and got the kids Hungry Jacks, while Nick and I had a really disgusting coffee then we drove on to Kimba where they offer overnight camping by the recreational ground for a gold coin donation. The rec ground was amazing for a small town in the middle of nowhere. There was a huge playground for the kids, tennis courts, basketball and a green oval. The toilets were spotless and there were also hot showers - the kids asked if they could stay for a few days! We had just set up camp when Helen And Peter Waugh arrived, Nick's Aunty and Uncle, so we spent the rest of the afternoon catching up over coffee and shortbread. Jonny was delighted to have someone new to play Chess with (Helen) and we lost home for most of the evening! We took the dog for a walk around the oval after dinner and then had an early night.
